Fixed written price
The number on the quote is the number you pay. Changes get priced before work starts.
Dates we actually hit
A written schedule per phase, and one person to call when something moves.
Clean at the end of each day
Dust containment, floor protection, and tools packed away before we leave.
What we do
Most finishing jobs touch more than one trade. Keeping them all in-house is why our schedules hold and why nobody stands around waiting for another contractor to show up.
Before and after
Every one of these was a real job in a real LA home, finished on the schedule we quoted. Photography is the only honest way to sell finishing work.

Popcorn ceiling removal and repaint
Encino — Ceilings skimmed flat, walls and trim repainted. Six days.

1950s hall bathroom, same footprint
Sherman Oaks — Full gut, new waterproofing and flood test. Three weeks.

Original oak uncovered and refinished
Culver City — Carpet out, old-growth oak sanded and sealed. Four days.

Why homeowners keep us
Patching, sanding and spot-priming take longer than painting does. It is also the only reason a finish lasts. Crews that skip it are quoting you a repaint in two years.
If your roof deck is sound, we will coat it instead of selling a tear-off. If there is original oak under the carpet, we will refinish it instead of selling new floors.
Rot under a shower pan, wet insulation, failed framing — we stop, photograph it, price it and send it to you before touching any of it.
The people who start your job are the people who finish it. No handing the last 20% to whoever happens to be free that week.
How it runs
The reason remodeling has a bad reputation is that homeowners are kept in the dark. Here is exactly what happens and when.
Tell us roughly what you need. We ask a few questions and book a walkthrough, usually within two or three days.
We measure, check the condition of what is actually there, and send a written line-item price. Free, and there is no follow-up sales call.
You get dates per phase before anything starts, plus one named contact for the whole job. Materials are ordered ahead so nothing stalls.
Dust containment, floor protection, one area finished before the next opens up, and the site left clean at the end of every day.
We go through the work with you under a raking light and write down everything, however small. Nothing is finished until that list is empty.

Reviews
5.0 from 369 reviews. Not the marketing lines — the things clients actually bring up months later.
“They spent two full days on prep before a drop of paint went on, which honestly worried me at the time. Then the finish came out flawless and I understood why. Two years on, not one crack has come back through.”
“Another company quoted me twenty-six thousand for a tear-off. Fresh Build climbed up, showed me photos of a deck that was completely fine, and sealed it for under eight. No leak since, and the back bedroom is noticeably cooler in summer.”
“They found rot under the old shower pan on day one, photographed it, priced the repair and asked before doing anything. That is the whole reason I trusted them with the rest of the job.”
“The last contractor filled our Craftsman's cracks with joint compound and they were back within a year. Fresh Build re-keyed the plaster to the lath properly. Completely different result.”
“They pulled up a corner of the carpet before quoting and found the original oak underneath. Refinishing it cost half what new flooring would have, and they told me that themselves. Who does that?”
“Two hundred and twenty feet of cedar, posts set two and a half feet deep in concrete. Three winters later it is still dead straight. The fence it replaced had lasted six years.”
Where we work
We cover Los Angeles County and Orange County — the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, the San Gabriel Valley, the coast from Huntington Beach to Laguna, and the cities around Irvine and Anaheim. Every neighbourhood here has its own housing stock and its own quirks, and we price accordingly.
FAQ
If yours is not here, call us. We would rather answer it before you book than after.
Yes. Fresh Build holds California license #1166332 and carries both general liability and workers' compensation cover. You can verify the license yourself on the CSLB website, and we will send certificates of insurance to you or your HOA on request.
Nothing. We come out, measure, look at what is actually there and send a written fixed-price quote. There is no fee and no obligation, and the number in that quote is the number you pay unless you change the scope or we find something hidden — in which case we photograph it and price it before touching anything.
Small jobs — a room of painting, a drywall repair — usually within a week. Larger projects like a full interior repaint or a bathroom remodel typically start two to three weeks out. If you have a hard deadline, tell us during the estimate and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.
California law caps a residential contractor's down payment at $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. We do not ask for more than that, and neither should anyone else. Progress payments follow completed phases of work.
Yes, where the work needs them. Cosmetic painting, flooring and like-for-like fence replacement generally do not. Moving plumbing or electrical, structural changes and taller fences usually do. We pull the permit, schedule the inspections and hand you the signed-off paperwork at the end.
Three years on workmanship across all our trades, on top of whatever the manufacturer warrants on materials — which on roof coatings is 10 years. If something we did fails inside that window, we come back and fix it.
For almost everything, yes. We use low-VOC paints, seal work areas with plastic and zip doors, sand with HEPA vacuum sanders and finish one area before opening up the next. The exceptions are a kitchen remodel, where you will be without a kitchen, and whole-home floor refinishing.
